I’m Divyesh Dobariya, a photographer working out of Kitchener–Waterloo. Most of my work happens at weddings and the ceremonies around them — long days, large families, rooms that change light every twenty minutes.
I photograph what actually happens in them. The rest tends to take care of itself.

I started photographing weddings because I liked the parts nobody was looking at — a grandmother watching from the back of the hall, the minute before anyone realises the ceremony has started.
Most of my work is with Gujarati and South Asian families across Ontario: mandir ceremonies, mehendi afternoons, garba nights that run past midnight. I know how these days are structured, which means I can stay out of the way of them.
