Introduction
I photograph weddings and the ceremonies that surround them, mostly for Gujarati and South Asian families across southern Ontario. Mandir ceremonies, mehendi afternoons, garba nights, the small civil ceremony with fourteen people in the room.
I work quietly. On most days you will not notice where I am standing, which is the point — the moment I want is usually the one nobody is performing for.
Approach
Some moments don’t need direction. Most of the good ones don’t.
I’ll set up a portrait when a portrait is what’s needed, and otherwise stay out of the way. Knowing the order of a ceremony matters more than any piece of equipment: if you know the pheras are about to start, you are already standing in the right place.
People first. Everything else follows.
